SNC update on possible rise of water levels this weekend

HAWKESBURY — This statement is an update to South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) Flood Warning: Ottawa River issued on May 10.

SNC continues to caution residents that water levels in the Ottawa River are currently slowly decreasing.  However, Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts 10 to 20 mm of rain for this weekend, which may increase water levels and may cause flooding in low-lying areas between Gatineau and Hawkesbury.

Residents are advised to stay away from watercourses where flows are high and where banks might be unstable.  Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.
