A pair of allegedly impaired drivers; red ATV recovered in Chesterville

Impaired driving alleged

DUNDAS COUNTY — The SD&G OPP apprehended two allegedly impaired drivers last week in Dundas County.

Just after 7 p.m. on May 6, an officer intercepted a vehicle on County Road 31 in South Dundas.

Christopher Lunn, 55, of Smiths Falls, was arrested and released to appear in Morrisburg court on June 6.

Just before 9 a.m. on May 7, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on County Rd. 5, North Dundas. Ashley St-John, 29, of South Dundas, was arrested and released to appear in Cornwall court on May 25.

Police say both drivers are accused of Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired, and Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood.

Breach of condition

NORTH DUNDAS — A 41-year-old man faces a charge of failing to comply with a recognizance after an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on County Rd. 13, North Dundas.

The stop occurred at 8:14 a.m. on May 7.Investigation indicated the driver was in contravention of a condition (remain at residence) imposed from a previous incident.

James Dillabough, 41, of North Stormont, was arrested and so charged.

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

Do you own a red ATV?

NORTH DUNDAS — SD&G OPP are requesting assistance identifying the owner of an ATV recovered in Chesterville. On April 27, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a red youth-sized ATV was recovered on Water Street but the owner has not yet been identified. Contact the SD&G OPP (Winchester Detachment) at 613-774-2603 if it’s yours.

Domestic situation, assault

SOUTH STORMONT — A 67-year-old South Stormont Township man faces a charge of spousal assault.

The accused was arrested after SD&G OPP officers responded May 8 to a reported altercation between the man and his female spouse at a County Rd. 2 residence.

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 30. His name was withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Weapon seized

SOUTH STORMONT — A South Stormont man stands accused of possessing a weapon for dangerous purpose. SD&G OPP officers arrested him April 29 after responding to a Long Sault address at 2:26 p.m.

Police say the man had a firearm, in contravention of conditions previously imposed. They also seized a quantity of suspected marijuana from the individual upon his arrest.

William McDonald, 22, of South Stormont Township is charged with: Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose; Possession of a Controlled Substance; and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

He was held in custody pending a bail appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

North Dundas theft

NORTH DUNDAS — Overnight between April 30 and May 1, a shed located at a property on Water Street, North Dundas Township was unlawfully entered. Police say a Stihl chainsaw, fishing equipment and assorted hand tools were stolen.
