Dundas Cup comes to an end in Morrisburg with Seaway on top

WINCHESTER — The rivalry was obvious from the beginning as the South and North Dundas teams duelled it out on Friday at the annual Dundas Cup– which was ultimately captured by Seaway on March 27 with a series win of 3-2. 

Friday’s games in Winchester

In the first intermediate co-ed game , North Dundas District High School defeated Seaway District High School in a 9-1 upset. The goalies for the teams were Adrianna VanBreugel for Seaway and Ewan Wilson for NDDHS. Various goals came from Curtis Bowman (2), Lucas Menard (2), Mason Carr (2), Adam Barkley, Delaney Johnston and Jack MacGregor of North Dundas.

The girls’ senior teams had a much tighter game, with Seaway taking the contest 1-0.

During the intermission between games, the Dundas County figure skating club pumped up the crowd with a stellar final performance with a dance to Let’s Get Ready to Rumble.

In an entertaining end-to-end game, the Devils pulled out a shocking 6-1 win against their rivals, the Spartans.

Monday’s games in Morrisburg

On Monday the NDDHS girls will be gunning to settle the score while the intermediate and boys teams will be trying to hold on to their leads during the Cup’s final games in Morrisburg. 

After all the games were played and scores were kept, the Dundas Cup was officially awarded to the Seaway Spartans.
