Seaway, Char-Lan, Longue Sault, Morrisburg no longer listed for closure

North Stormont Public School would still close, as proposed by the Upper Canada District School Board's final report on Building for the Future.

EASTERN ONTARIO — The Upper Canada District School Board recommends sparing Seaway District High School, Morrisburg Public School, Char-Lan District High School and Longue Sault Public School —  in its final report on the recently concluded accommodation review.

North Stormont Public School also remains on the recommended closure list, pending ministry approval for an expansion at Roxmore Public School, which would take students from NSPS as well as some younger students from R-O on a readjusted northern boundary.

R-O would remain open as a Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6 school. Its current high school population would shift to Tagwi.

A dozen schools would close, down from the original 29 proposed in September.

A public meeting on the final report is set for Feb. 15 in Kemptville.

Correction: This article was edited to reflect that R-O would remain open as a JK to Grade 6 school.
