FINCH — Longtime South Nation Conservation head Dennis O’Grady is among those set to be recognized at the local watershed authority’s upcoming  annual general meeting for 2017 — another key milestone during this, the organization’s 70th anniversary year.

O’Grady, SNC’s current General Manager/Treasurer-Secretary, joined the operation 30 years ago and officially retires this spring. Angela Coleman has been promoted from within as his replacement.

Along with O’Grady, the AGM will celebrate Friends of SNC at the Feb. 17 AGM that runs 10 a.m. till noon at SNC’s 38 Victoria Street headquarters in Finch.

As with all SNC board meetings, the public is welcome to attend.

“This year’s AGM will recognize SNC’s 70th Anniversary of watershed management and leadership in supplying sustainable services,” says John Mesman, SNC Team Lead, Communications.  “The AGM will include a special historical presentation featuring SNC’s 70 years of environmental success and organizational growth.”

Monthly events are planned throughout 2017 to celebrate SNC’s 70 years of conservation.  “Over 40 visitors helped kick-off the celebrations on January 28 with a snowshoe hike at the Warwick Forest Conservation Area,” noted Mesman.  SNC treated visitors with free snowshoe rentals and hot chocolate to warm up after their hike on the Forest’s interpretive trail.
