SOUTH DUNDAS – A young Quebec couple’s altercation at a Highway 401 service centre produced a charge of spousal assault for her, a charge of violating probation for him, and charges of causing a disturbance for both.

The incident unfolded at just after 5 a.m. on Jan. 26, when SD&G OPP officers responded to the station on the eastbound 401 in South Dundas.

Their investigation indicated the 19-year-old woman from Ste-Marthe assaulted her 22-year-old male partner from Montreal, who was found to be violating conditions imposed from a previous incident.

She was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on Feb. 21. Her name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim — who remained in custody pending a Cornwall bail hearing.
